The NeCS PhD Winter School will take place at  Sporthotel Panorama from 18th  to 22nd February 2019 in Fai della Paganella, Trento – Italy.

The particular position of Paganella, overlooking Trento and Valle dell´Adige to the east, with an impressive vertical wall of over one km, offers the spectacular panoramic view of Trentino and the Dolomites.
Fai della Paganella is situated at an altitude of 1,030 m in the heart of the Central-Western Trentino and is a famous skiing resort with a breath-taking view of the Valle dell’Adige from the panoramic site. In fact, the village is set on a balcony between the Paganella massif and Mount Fausior. The ski lifts starting from the village lead up to the Paganella Peak (2,125 m) and are linked to those of Andalo serving 50 km of runs of varying difficulty-levels and equipped with man-made snow-making facilities.

Venue Details

The school will take place in the Sporthotel Panorama.  The lectures, lunches, and social events will be organized in this hotel.

The room prices are as follows:

  • Half Board in a double room (Bucaneve type) or junior suite: 100,00 € per night
  • Half Board double room, single use (ciclamino or bucaneve type): 140,00 € per night

How to get to Fai della Paganella

By car: A22 Motorway Modena-Brennero, exit S. Michele all’Adige, go through the borough of Mezzolombardo then take direction to Fai della Paganella ( 15 KM)/

By Taxi: The one-way fare (from Trento to Fai della Paganella) is around 65 €.  The taxi can be shared among 2-3 persons.

By train: Brennero-Verona line, Trento Station (40KM) or Mezzocorona (19 KM). There are bus services from both stations.

By plane: Airports “Valerio Catullo”, Verona (130 KM) + train connection.

By bus: From Trento or/and Mezzocorona there are bus services to Fai della Paganella.

How to reach Trento

By train: Two main lines reach Trento: the Brennero line (connecting to Rome to the south, and Innsbruck and northern Europe to the north) and the Valsugana line to Venice. Timetable details from Trenitalia. A local train line connects Trento with Valle di Non (Ferrovia Trento-Malé, details from Trentino Trasporti).

By plane: The following airports are the closest to Trento:

  • Brescia Montichiari
  • Bergamo Orio al Serio
  • Bolzano

Trento is connected with the main airports by the A22 Brennero Motorway and by the railway.
A shuttle service to reach the center of Milan is guaranteed for travelers arriving in Malpensa and Linate. Buses leave every 20-30 minutes 24 hours a day.
For those arriving in Verona (Valerio Catullo airport) or Brescia (Montichiari Airport), there is a shuttle bus service to Verona railway station every day, leaving every 20 minutes from 6.30 in the morning until 11.35 p.m.
For those arriving in Bergamo (Orio al Serio airport) there is a shuttle bus service to Bergamo railway station, leaving every 15 minutes from 6.05 to 00.15; to Milano Centrale railway station leaving every 20 minutes from 04.30 to 01.00 and to Brescia railway station.
For those arriving in Venice (Marco Polo Airport) there are buses to Venezia-Santa Lucia and Mestre-Venezia railways stations.
